For immediate release, October 7th, 2026

Chris Cwej, companion of the Seventh Doctor, has now said goodbye to his first set of companions, Larles and Kwol, as he continues his quest to find Roz's eldritch clones. Now, he's got two more to worry about, and they're both intimately familiar with him. Yanna and Vicky join the Cwej roster as official companions for the latter two halves of Seasons, beginning with Autumn Fallout.

Not only that, but this chapter of Cwej: Seasons ends with an officially approved crossover with Telos Publishing's Time Hunter, nearly a decade after the series finale. How will Chris, Honoré and Emily get along? Who is Mestizer, really? One wonders...

“These stories are some of the biggest swings Cwej: The Series has ever taken. Dark, comedic, oddball, spooky, and intimate, we're starting to really see what's driving Chris through his quest for the Rozyn," says series head and lead editor Hunter O'Connell. “With Time Hunter's crossover having been planned for years, I am thrilled to announce that this isn't even close to the wildest thing in this volume.”

“Bringing Yanna back into Cwej's world was a real pleasure,” says head of publishing and author of Autumn Fallout's introductory story Wound, James Wylder. “I know readers have been waiting to see what happened to her since her last appearance, and I promise that there's far more to Yanna than meets the eye.”

The synopsis reads: Cosmic soldier Christopher Cwej has seen brighter days.

Now his long-lost friend, Roz Forrester, has returned from the dead—but she’s been splintered, twisted: an arcane sisterhood of mocking replicas, spreading devastation across the Universe. If he’s to save it again—this time from someone he loves—he’ll need help. But his hologram girlfriend Vicky and the alien gearhead Yanna are proving a tricky team to handle—while a suave criminal, known only as The Deathless, walks an ever-darker path…

With stories by James Macaronas (Kirk Dangerous Kills the Prime Minister), Abby Denton (Gamer Mom: The Mom Who Games) and more, AUTUMN FALLOUT is the third installment in CWEJ: SEASONS, a daring new cycle of sci-fi adventures.

Cwej: Autumn Fallout is available now in ebook and paperback formats.

A threat from the dawn of history returns to corrupt a quaint English town in SIGNET: Feast for the Hervoken by Charles EP Murphy.

The Hervoken first appeared in Doctor Who: Forever Autumn by Mark Morris, where they encountered the Tenth Doctor in a spooky Halloween adventure.

“The Hervoken have been a favourite of mine ever since I read Forever Autumn all those years ago,” explains SIGNET creator and range editor James Hornby. “The opportunity to bring them back for a full-length adventure was too good to pass up. Mark Morris was happy to allow their use, and Charles expertly set about weaving a tale together that would push the SIGNET team to their limits.”

“SIGNET are a team of scrappy underdogs who are trying their best to find non-violent solutions and compromises, while the Hervoken are inhuman sociopaths that eat our pain,” says author Charles EP Murphy. “What happens when you slam these two things together? Can Charles Zoltan and his team hold on to their core belief, and can they also avoid violent death? All this and what each character is going to play on the radio on a long drive to missions.”

“The Hervoken are a horror from before recorded time. They have a form of physics akin to black magic. They feed on our pain and don't see us as real people. They should be extinct.

The Hervoken have taken a town as their feeding ground.

SIGNET stand out among Earth's counter-alien organisations by talking first. Charles Zoltan founded it to help Earth and aliens to coexist in peace. Underfunded, understaffed, and underappreciated, the team have faced death and saved the world while holding onto their moral code. But in the face of the Hervoken's cruelty, that code is in danger of breaking...”

SIGNET: Feast for the Hervoken will be available on 28 May in ebook and print formats in most territories.

Early in creative development, Cwej series editor Hunter O’Connell formulated a plan for Cwej: Seasons, being an anthology with the theme of passing time illustrated by the seasons of the year. Now, in 2026, Arcbeatle Press is proud to begin a quarterly release of Seasons, beginning with Springs Eternal.

Edited by Hunter O’Connell and Gerard Power, best known for the Cwej stories The Lost Fictionaut and The Ursine Brood, Cwej: Seasons will be releasing each subsequent part seasonally throughout 2026. Each quarterly release will comprise five stories and one short vignette, with all four compiled in the collected Cwej: Seasons anthology releasing 2027.

“With each passing day I grow more grateful for the opportunities our readers have allowed us,” says Hunter O’Connell. “With the incredible drive of our talented creatives here at Arcbeatle, we’ve managed to make Seasons the best it can possibly be. It’s a true love letter to Chris and Roz as characters, and I know readers are excited to see Roz Forrester again after all this time! As to how she’s back, well, you’ll have to see…”

“Cwej: Seasons is a new, self-contained series that tells a complete story, with a very particular vision,” says Gerard Power. “Springs Eternal kicks off this saga with some shocking new developments for Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester, with consequences to ripple throughout these four volumes.”

The cover blurb for Cwej: Springs Eternal reads, “Cosmic soldier Christopher Cwej has spent his lives enforcing galactic justice.

Now his long-lost friend, Roz Forrester, has returned from the dead—but she’s no longer herself: no longer even human. Whose hands wrought this dark resurrection, and for what cosmic purpose? Can Cwej save the Universe again—this time from someone he loves?

With stories by BSFA Award winner Adam Roberts (The Thing Itself, Jack Glass), Sean Dillon (The Tower Through the Trees) and more.”

Cwej: Springs Eternal, the first part of Cwej: Seasons, will release May 21st, 2026 in ebook and paperback formats. A bold new cycle of sci-fi adventures begins.

In 1997 readers joined Chris Cwej on one of the most legendary adventures in Doctor Who, Lungbarrow by Marc Platt. Now in 2026, Cwej returns to the house of Lungbarrow in a sequel novel by Tomoko M. Banks.

“Marc Platt's seminal novel Lungbarrow has captured the imaginations of countless readers, enchanting them for nearly three decades with its vivid setting and tragic players. It has been my greatest honour to help resurrect that manifold tapestry,” says Banks. “But Time’s Roses are scented with memory; over the last twenty nine years they've blossomed into a vast wilderness. That indescribable magic is returning to the world, and we'll soon find ourselves lost once more in the midst of a childless time.”

The original Lungbarrow marked Chris Cwej’s final adventure with the Doctor, and set him on the path of solo adventures that led to Cwej: The Series. Lungbarrow by Loomlight sees Chris come full circle, and discover dark secrets at the heart of his Superiors’ history.

“This has truly been a dream come true,” says Cwej editor Hunter O'Connell. "This story has gone through many drafts to make sure it's the best possible version of the book it can be, and I think we landed on it. An epic adventure awaits Chris Cwej as he goes through times long past, and we get a firsthand glimpse at what his Superiors are really hiding from him. The Totality, dear readers, will never be the same again…”

Marc Platt, author of Lungbarrow, gave his full approval for Arcbeatle Press to explore the concepts he created, and even gave Lungbarrow by Loomlight its title.

“We’ve treated this project with the utmost care. Lungbarrow is a legend, and like all the best legends, there’s more to the story,” said publisher James Wylder.

Lungbarrow by Loomlight will release in paperback and ebook formats on 23 April.

Two variant cover editions will be available: Cover A by Ryan Rigby, and Cover B by Fred Gambino. Cover B will be available from release, and Cover A will follow in the coming weeks.

The late David McIntee was a great help in forming Arcbeatle Press into what it is today, with an instrumental addition to SIGNET’s cast, and allowing the use of the villainous Koschei in Cwej: The Series. Now, his wife Lesley McIntee, along with Arcbeatle’s own Hunter O’Connell, have created “I’ll Think of a Title Honest”, a new anthology featuring original stories inspired by David’s life and times.

“‘I’ll think of a title, honest!’ was an often-repeated answer to David’s publishers asking him for a title to his many works, as it was typically the last thing handed in,” says Hunter O’Connell, who helped edit all contributions. “We named this book as such because it encapsulates the true brilliance and humor of David.”

Included in the stories is Andy Lane’s The Midnight Fish Market, a sequel to David’s wonderful Doctor Who novel White Darkness. Also included are transcriptions of David’s fencing YouTube videos and speeches, short stories by close friends and colleagues alike, and a deeply personal story about David’s final days written by Lesley McIntee, The Dark Corridor.

“I’ll Think of a Title Honest” marks the first release of joint-published anthologies by Arcbeatle Press and Lesley’s new imprint, Strawberry Leopard Press. Talks are ongoing regarding yearly almanacs to be released in a similar format, including some old and forgotten stories from non-English speaking cultures, released in English for the first time. Alongside this will be new short stories by Strawberry Leopard’s diverse talents.

“This project was in Lesley’s mind immediately following the announcement of David’s passing,” says Hunter. “It is a great honor to help bring her dreams to life, and celebrate David McIntee in a way he would surely love.”

“It was the end but the moment was prepared for,” says editor Lesley McIntee. “David A McIntee was a man of many words and worlds, a man of honor and a man of truth. So in his name; Here be monsters. Beautiful monsters and bold concepts, myths and magic and martial arts and voices new and old. With this collection I give you, his fans, his legacy. Use it well.”

“David McIntee was an incredible man. A wonderful author and a friend to many who will be dearly missed. Outspoken against all forms of bigotry and a helping hand to up-and-coming creatives everywhere, he sadly passed away on December 15th, 2024.

These stories serve as a heartfelt memorial to David McIntee’s legacy. Written by science-fiction authors who felt lucky to be his friends, or students of his storied fencing career. In collaboration with his wife Lesley, we bring you contributions that honor his memory, now carried on by those who knew him in life.”

All profits from “I’ll Think of a Title Honest” will be donated to The Siamese Cat Welfare Trust, on Lesley’s request. The anthology releases today, March 11th, 2026, and will be available for sale at Eastercon 2026 in Birmingham, from April 3rd through the 6th.

Cwej: Hidden Truths returns this November with a journey through fiction itself. The Lost Fictionaut, by Gerard Power, is the fourth of five novels in the Hidden Truths Cycle of Cwej: The Series. Chris ventures into the Fantastic Realm, a strange and wild land where stories from all of human history come to life.

Readers may recognize this setting from the Fragments of Totality story, Presents, by Erika de Atayde. This novel was based on Erika’s original concepts for a short story, but has since been expanded by Gerard into a much larger adventure with a truly narrative-shattering scope.

“After writing Dread Mnemosyne, co-editor Dillon O’Hara and I started to notice some wonderful parallels between it and The Lost Fictionaut in terms of their metafictional commentary on Chris and his noticeable impact on Doctor Who’s canon,” says range editor Hunter O’Connell. “This novel in particular changed the least from its first draft compared to the other four. It’s a very strong addition to Cwej’s mythos.”

Gerard Power explains, “The Lost Fictionaut is about the evolution of the human imaginary across Time. The methods by which this subject is dramatized include shady manipulation, somewhat ironical humor, and explosive, operatic action. The character of Christopher Cwej—a kind of cosmically shattered sci-fi soldier—has some strange metaphysical conditions that make him uniquely suited to (though not at all prepared for!) this particular story, almost as if his entire life had been tailored darkly towards it.”

In The Lost Fictionaut, Chris is press-ganged by his old Superiors into a cryptic assassination mission—and soon finds himself trapped in the body of a fragile, mortal man, stranded in a bleak, monochromatic otherworld. Dragged into a maelstrom of literary intrigue, pulp superheroics, and Ancient Greek arcana, Chris must forge himself a wildly new identity—or lose his soul in a war between gods.

Cwej: The Lost Fictionaut will be available for print and Kindle on 13 November, 2025 in most territories. Preorders for the Kindle edition are now open, with the print version available for sale on the day of release.

Chris Cwej battles with his very existence in Dread Mnemosyne and When Winter Comes, two new novels from the Cwej: Hidden Truths saga released in one book.

The book’s cover was created by Ryan Rigby, known amongst Doctor Who fans for his artwork inspired by Titan Comics. Previously, he was responsible for the lovely cover of Cwej: The Midas Touch, and has completed the covers for all future Hidden Truths releases.

“Dread Mnemosyne is perhaps the most metafictional piece of Cwej fiction we will ever release, telling the story of a mad god latching onto Chris’s fictional presence like a parasite. The characters of Larles and Kwol will also be given great development after the explosive events of The Midas Touch change their relationship forever,” says range editor Hunter O’Connell.

“Meanwhile, When Winter Comes is a story I have always wanted to see from the Doctor Who universe, and I couldn’t think of a better author to tackle the story than Callum Phillpott. It follows in The Midas Touch’s footsteps by telling a very visual story entirely in prose—in Winter’s case, it’s basically a found footage horror film!”

Hi, I’m currently transcribing the events of Dread Mnemosyne. Chris investigates a new economic ideology that uses paradoxes as currency. I wrote him into a corner, literally. Larles and Kwol get confused about certain exchanges of words neither of them said. Surprise! It was me. I’m the Lack, by the way, but you may know me as the narrator of all fiction relating to Doctor Who. Cwej, Larles and Kwol are my current targets. Disregard the next synopsis or three, Cwej: The Series ends here and now.

In
When Winter Comes, Larles and Kwol find a diary tablet belonging to Lucily Smithe, a little girl with big dreams who is moving to another planet with her dad. Unexpectedly, the ship crashes, leaving her and the rest of the passengers stranded and alone on Selma-Zeta… or so they believe. With plant creatures roaming outside the ship and a long winter fast approaching, will an alternate version of Chris get Lucily and her father out alive?

Cwej: Dread Mnemosyne and When Winter Comes will be available for print and Kindle on 18 September, 2025 in most territories. Preorders for the Kindle edition are now open, with the print version available for sale on the day of release.

Arcbeatle Press are still celebrating Cwej30, with a new zine out this month, and keep your eyes open for the next Cwej adventure, Gerard Power’s The Lost Fictionaut, landing later this year.

Written to be a fresh entry point for readers, Arcbeatle Press is excited to announce that the Cwej: The Series story Shutter Speed has rocketed to being its most-read story of all time, surpassing previous hits like their 10th Anniversary novel And Today, You, Academy 27 stand out short story Into the Light, and the novel 10,000 Dawns. Released as an Easter special, the story has nonetheless had legs. “It was a huge and wonderful surprise to see how many readers connected with this story and have spread the word about it—and for more people to be reading in the last few weeks than in the month after it came out,” said lead writer James Wylder. “It's an honor to have gathered such an amazing team of writers who brought Hughes High to life in a way I couldn’t on my own.”

Such writers include James Hornby (SIGNET), Aristide Twain (The Crew of the Copper Coloured Cupids), Aidan Mason (10,000 Dawns), Theta Mandel (Zadellin), Thien Valdram (The Interstellar Sleuth), Molly Warton (Academy 27), and Cwej range editor Hunter O’Connell with graphic design by Callum Phillpott. “Writing for Cwej: The Series is a dream come true, and I’m honoured to have played a part in such a fun story, and one that has become such a hit!” Theta Mandel said.

Readers enjoyed the dynamic between the story’s two leads, Chris Cwej and Jhe Sang Mi, something the writers were also eager to dig into, such as Thien Valdram: “I have been fascinated with Chris since the New Adventures, Dead Romance and The Book of the War, so it's a privilege to have been able to contribute in my own way, if briefly, to that mythology. Especially in being able to touch on the developing mentor role he exhibits with Jhe Sang Mi.” Touching on their mutual struggles with mental health, their adventures took them into conflict with the mysterious Flickers. But there was something more to this story.

Why would one story have so many contributors? Because there was more to enjoy than met the eye! Links scattered through the tale take readers to further stories, in-universe documents, encyclopedia entries, and more. “It was a real treat to be able to have the story branch out, and dig these rabbit holes for readers to explore. That there’s stuff bubbling under the surface wasn’t even subtext!” Wylder said. These expansions provided whole new avenues of storytelling. “Exploring how strange it would be for Chris to teach a lesson when he so obviously doesn’t belong anywhere near a classroom was great to explore, especially from the point of view of another member of staff – I’m sure his students would be happy with bunking off for an hour each day!” said James Hornby.

“That’s the beauty of stories. Even after 30 years, there’s always more to do with a great character — whether that’s digging into their past, or moving the story forward as Cwej: The Series principally does. The very structure of Shutter Speed, whose bonus material grew organically from the seed of Wylder’s wonderful original tale, is a lovely encapsulation of the very kind of storytelling magic which brought us all here in the first place,” said Aristide Twain

Arcbeatle Press is honored by the attention and love readers have given their story, and will be excited to bring you more later this year with their Cwej30 celebrations, and their novels Dread Mnemosyne, When Winter Comes, and The Lost Fictionaut. “It’s an absolute honour to have gotten to contribute to this beautiful story, and to have been able to play around in the Cwej sandbox a little. It’s wonderful that people have been enjoying the story,” said Molly Warton.

"I'd like to personally thank our readers, you make all this possible, and we couldn't keep doing this without you. So, thank you," Wylder said.

But the team hasn't forgotten what really matters with Cwej either, as Mandel says: “Most of all, I am proud of being able to say that I have contributed to the debate on how Cwej’s name is really pronounced. This is, of course, the single greatest feat of my entire life. Yippee!”

Arcbeatle Press hits April with two spin-off novels in the form of SIGNET: Unstoppable by prolific Doctor Who author John Peel, and Cwej: The Midas Touch by James Hornby.

Unstoppable is the second book in the SIGNET series, following 2023’s Night of the Yssgaroth. SIGNET follows a privately funded organisation fighting alien incursions and investigating the supernatural.

“John was originally asked to write Unstoppable for another series at Arcbeatle Press,” explains SIGNET creator and range editor James Hornby. “A restructuring in our output led the book to become a SIGNET adventure, and it’s all the better for it. John has put lots of thought into how the plot would affect our characters, and he really puts them through the wringer.”

Unstoppable sees the SIGNET team investigate a series of resurrections across the globe, as well as teaming up with their cousins across the seas, the JDS.

“I’m so pleased to see the JDS get their time in the limelight,” says publisher James Wylder. “They were inspired by the best parts of public service, something more important than ever to show. The Jovian Diplomatic Service shares the same ideals SIGNET has — but gives something new compared to the alien investigation groups you're used to!”

“The most vicious and amoral drug dealer on Earth has just been found guilty of his crimes and legally executed. But he won’t stay dead… Is he now

Unstoppable?

He’s just the first to return from beyond the undiscovered country. Is it a good thing to have the dead returned? Or is this plague of resurrections

Unstoppable?

There’s an alien killer loose on Earth. He’ll do anything at all to reach his target, and kill anyone in his way. He’s impervious to bullets, grenades and anything else in the arsenal. Is he

Unstoppable?

Earth’s only hope is the understaffed, under-armed and under-appreciated team at SIGNET. But can they prevent all the death — and life! — and misery currently facing the human race? Could it possibly be that they are

Unstoppable?”

Arcbeatle’s second April release, Cwej: The Midas Touch is the first instalment of Hidden Truths, a new epoch in the life of the Adjudicator come temporal agent, continuing on from the epic conclusion of Down the Middle. Hidden Truths will consist of five novels published into four separate volumes, to be collected into one hardcover at a later date.

“Cwej has been my life for the past half-a-decade,” says range editor Hunter O’Connell. “To be able to release this novel is truly an honor. And what a novel it is! Larles and Kwol get some excellent development thanks to author James Hornby’s unparalleled character work. An incredible adventure is going to reach through the page, and captivate you all.”

“I’ve previously called The Midas Touch my love letter to the Eighth Doctor Adventures,” says author James Hornby. “Readers will see some definite references to that era of Doctor Who history, but the heart of the novel is definitely the connection between our main characters, in an adventure that takes them all over time and space.”

SIGNET: Unstoppable will be available on 8 April and Cwej: The Midas Touch on 21 April, in ebook and print formats in most territories. Preorders for the Kindle editions are now open, with the print versions available for sale on the day of release.

Chris Cwej returns in Fragments of Totality, a collection of new short stories, bridging the gap between Down the Middle and the adventures to come in Hidden Truths.

The anthology’s cover was created by Paul Magrs, known for his prolific work in Doctor Who fiction, and as the creator of popular character Iris Wildthyme. Also included in the anthology is A Message to Panda, Magrs’ script for an unmade video promotion starring Katy Manning as Iris.

“Getting to be among such talented writers is such an honor,” says publisher James Wylder. “I mean, Paul Magrs is here! I think readers will find these fragments to be gems.”

“These short, never-before-seen adventures for the Cwej gang have turned out to be an incredible bridge from Down the Middle to the highly anticipated Hidden Truths,” says range editor Hunter O'Connell. “Everyone, both returning faces and new contributors alike, came together and knocked it out of the park. You readers are in for a treat.”

Far beyond falling down the middle between good and evil, Chris, his friends, and other adventurers like Iris Wildthyme and the Superior physician Dionus, team up in these extra stories which never before made it to print. Stories with cryptocurrency vampires, bus rides through the Bifrost, and nuclear arms trades.

From touring the beaten-up timeship La Kraw el Sol, to sitting through an intense and much needed therapy session with Cwej-V, these fragments don’t just make up a whole, but also a whole host of new adventures for the Cwej cast!

Cwej: Fragments of Totality will be available for print and Kindle on 18 February, 2025 in most territories. Preorders for the Kindle edition are now open, with the print version available for sale on the day of release. Keep your eyes open for the next Cwej adventure, The Midas Touch, landing later this year.
